Location

The Danum Valley Conservation Area is situated in South-eastern Sabah, Malaysian Borneo (4º50'N - 5º00'N and 117º35'E - 117º45'E). The Danum Valley Field Centre is approximately 70 km inland from the town of Lahad Datu on Sabah's east coast.

Getting to Danum Valley
The Field Centre is easily accessed by road and the journey takes less than 2 hours from the nearest town, Lahad Datu, which is a short flight (55 minutes) from the capital of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu. Three flights operate daily between Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu.

Kota Kinabalu is itself served by numerous daily flights from Kuala Lumpur and by regular services from other major regional hubs including Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. Several international airlines fly in to Kota Kinabalu as well as a number of low-cost carriers with connections throughout SE Asia. The contacts page of this site has links to airline booking services and local travel agencies. Transport to and from Danum Valley, using the Field Centre's or Royal Society vehicles, can be arranged at the time of booking.
