Recreation

Sports facilities at the Field Centre include a football pitch, badminton, volleyball and sepak takraw courts. Danum Valley has satellite TV and a lecture theatre that can be used for viewing movies (it's equipped with a DVD player, projector and stereo sound system).

Although Lahad Datu is limited in terms of recreation and entertainment, Kota Kinabalu is only a short flight away and makes a great weekend break; it has numerous bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels in a range of price bands, several multi-screen cinemas, some excellent beaches and good diving, snorkelling and other water sports. The headquarters of Mount Kinabalu National Park (Mt. Kinabalu is a 'must see' for anyone visiting Sabah) is only a 1-hour drive from the city centre. With the expansion of low-cost air travel in SE Asia, KK is also becoming a regional hub with relatively inexpensive flights to various destinations throughout the region.

The contacts page has links to various hotels and tourism agents who might be useful for planning a visit to KK or elsewhere in Sabah.
