Themes

The Royal Society SEARRP committee sets themes for the research programme and then, as far as possible, attempts to address these by targeting individual research groups and scientists who may be interested in working at Danum Valley. The programme themes since 1985 have been:

  • 1985-1994 - "Recovery of tropical forest after disturbance: Patterns & processes"

  • 1995-1999 - "Restoration of tropical forest ecosystems"

  • 2000-2004 - "Extreme events & the sustainability of tropical rainforest systems in a changing world"

The current theme (2005 - 2010) is:

  • 2005-2009 - "Supporting biodiversity and biogeochemical flux research in tropical rainforests"
